What I Wore on Wednesday - March 18, 2015

by mary March 18, 2015

Today's Dorothea's Closet Vintage outfit is this very fun 1940s wool felt Mexican tourist jacket that I got at the shop several years ago.

Mexican tourist jackets were especially popular during the 1940s & 1950s.  The most common color was red & the most & the most common design was a dancing couple.  The second most popular design were scenes of Mexican village life, such as the design on the jacket I am wearing.  The thing I love most about this jacket (& Mexican tourist jackets in general) is the bright colors.  For more pictures & information about Mexican tourist jackets, check out the Atomic Redhead's 4/16/13 blog.

Here's a picture of the back of the jacket.

I also wore 2 pieces of jewelry that I'd made.  The first is a Mexican themed charm bracelet that I made awhile ago.

The charms include Cracker Jack/gumball & other charms that I thought had a southwestern feel, as well as gemstones found in Mexico (turquoise & fire agate).

I also wore a pair of red & gold earrings that I made from broken chain I found at a flea market, brass-bound red glass beads & a brass-bound red glass piece from a pair of broken vintage cufflinks.

That's it for today's vintage outfit!  To see more Dorothea's Closet Vintage clothing, check out the shop's website at http://dorotheasclosetvintage.myshopify.com.  To see more of my jewelry, go to http://paulinesjewelrybox.com.

And, as always, thanks for reading & for supporting small businesses!
