What I Wore on Wednesday - April 22, 2015

by mary April 23, 2015

Wednesday's Dorothea's Closet Vintage outfit is one of my favorite 1940's/1950's "little black dresses" that I picked up at the shop years ago, with a 1950s black & white purse that I just got recently, & a Diane Harty hat!

Diane Harty is a one-person millinary.  She makes her hats using an antique straw machine & an antique chain-stitch sewing machine.  I picked this hat up at the 2014 Art Fair here is Des Moines.  I have 4 of her hats & this is one of my favorites -- I absolutely love the design; it reminds me of a 1920s cloche!

I also wore 2 pieces of jewelry that I made just recently.  The first is a black, red & white charm doggy bracelet.

In addition to little Cracker Jack/gumball doggy charms, the bracelet includes a fire hydrant charm & a little locket with a doggy on the front!

I also wore a pair of earrings I made out of old snaps.

I think old snaps make really fun & light earrings!

Thanks for reading & for supporting small businesses!

About the author

Pauline's Jewelry Box was founded by Mary Nelson in 2012 in Des Moines, Iowa.  I chose the name Pauline's Jewelry Box because my mother's name was Pauline & I have many fond memories of looking through jewelry box & playing with her jewelry
