What I Wore on Thursday - April 30, 2015

by mary April 30, 2015

This week, I'm writing about What I Wore On Thursday, rather than what I wore on Wednesday.

Today's Dorothea's Closet Vintage outfit is this really fun 1960's blue & white jersey dress & jacket from "Shelton's Strollers".  The purse is also from the 1960's & has a built in mirror as well as a little change purse connected by a chain.

Jersey was first produced during medieval times on the Island of Jersey in the Channel Islands.  According to The Fashion Guild, jersey is the simplest knit fabric & can be made with any natural or manufactured fabric.

With my dress, I wore one of my bracelets & a pair of earrings I made recently.

I made the bracelet using white beads that came from broken vintage jewelry I'd picked up at flea markets & garage sales, etc.

I made the earrings out of old lithograph tin pieces that I cut from scraps that my husband's cousin, Ken Keiran, gave me.  Ken uses pieces of old lithograph tin to make wings for Barn Birds that he sells at craft fairs & farmers markets, etc.  The gemstone beads are sodalite.  I love the pattern on these little tin pieces!

That's it for this week!  To see more of Dorothea's Closet Vintage clothing, check out the shop's website at http://dorotheasclosetvintage.myshopify.com.  To see more of my jewelry, go to http://paulinesjewelrybox.com.

As always, thanks for reading & for supporting small businesses!

Pauline's Jewelry Box was founded by Mary Nelson in 2012 in Des Moines, Iowa.  I chose the name Pauline's Jewelry Box because my mother's name was Pauline & I have many fond memories of looking through jewelry box & playing with her jewelry
